Getting Back to Normal After the Coronavirus Lockdown

The lock-down for the Coronavirus pandemic is gradually being lifted and life is getting back to normal (for the most part). At our office, we’re back at full strength (although still following local recommendations to remain healthy and protect the community). Although jury trials are still prohibited, we’re moving our cases forward as hard as ever. As a Kansas City personal injury firm, we’ve noticed an increase in new client contacts for certain types of cases during the easing of the restrictions. It seems as people are emerging from lock-down, they are experiencing the following dangers out in the new world:

There’s been an increase in car crash calls. It seems people have forgotten how to follow the rules of the road and drive safely during the lock-down. We’ve gotten new calls for rear-end car collisions and crashes with speeding since the lock-down has been lifted. Please remember to drive carefully, to put down your phone, and to try to avoid reckless drivers.

We’ve also seen an increase in calls for crime victim cases. These cases are typically things like slip and fall case, but more recently the problem is with crime rather than slippery stuff or trip hazards on the floor. It seems that the lock-down has led to an increase in crime, particularly at businesses in Kansas City. Please take care going in and out of stores. Travel in groups or in daylight and don’t linger in parking lots.

As you get back to normal (or at least a new normal) life after the Coronavirus lock-down, please remember to drive carefully and be aware of your surroundings. If you fall victim to someone’s negligence, please make sure and take pictures, get the names of witnesses, and document everything. If you have questions about what to do in such a situation, please don’t hesitate to call our office at 816.867.8611 to set up a free initial consultation.
