This year we celebrate the 6th anniversary of the founding of Meyerkord, Russell & Hergott. Normally, we’d celebrate by throwing a party or sending out gifts to close friends and colleagues. But this is not a normal year. With the United States facing an unprecedented pandemic and civil unrest due to police brutality, we thought celebrating in such a way would be irresponsible.
Instead, we decided to donate to an organization aimed at fighting injustice, Miracle of Innocence. This organization works to free people wrongfully convicted of crimes. Founded by two exonerees, Miracle of Innocence takes on cases of wrongful convictions and supports those who have been successfully freed from wrongful imprisonment.
At Meyerkord, Russell & Hergott, we believe every Black life matters and we oppose police brutality and the mistreatment of Black people of any kind. With our donation to Miracle of Innocence, we hope their organization can continue to free innocent people who are serving time for crimes they didn’t commit.
